FAQs

Why build another template framework? Aren't there already several others?

At Cory Webb Media, we have been building custom Joomla! templates for years. We developed /motif back in October 2009 to scratch our own itch. We felt that the existing template frameworks suffered from either restrictive proprietary licensing or were just too complex to really serve our purposes. We are releasing /motif because we believe it is the simplest framework available for Joomla!, and we want to empower web designers to become Joomla! template developers.

Is there a separate plugin or component to install?

No. Each /motif-powered template contains the entire framework and can be managed through its template parameters in the Joomla! Template Manager.

Are there any usage restrictions?

No. The /motif framework is licensed under the GNU/GPL, the same license as Joomla!.

Can I build templates with /motif and distribute them?

Yes. Because /motif is licensed under the GPL, you can build and distribute templates with /motif as long as you comply with the GPL license.
